Building a Linux MSP - Part 1

This post will be part 1 of a series where I detail my journey of creating a Linux managed service provider from the ground up. This will mostly be a technical write-up on the technologies used and decisions taken to deliver core services that you would expect from an MSP. I’ll try my best to be as transparent as possible and focus not only my wins but also my losses and struggles since I think it’s there’s lessons to be learnt from both ends of the spectrum.

The Why

Firstly I’d like to describe why I wanted to start a Linux MSP. In my short career I’ve worked with companies of all sizes ranging from a handful of users to hundreds of users across all different types of industries. And what I noticed while working with all these different companies was that they all used Microsoft products religously (excluding a few Mac users). Now I don’t have a problem with Microsoft or Windows (in fact I think it does things better then Linux) but there were times where I thought to myself that Linux would be such a better tool for the job for certain users.
